Travel and transport
The nearest railway station is a short drive or a fifteen-minute walk from most properties, with direct services to larger cities and an hourly service during the day. Bus stops serving the town centre are within a few minutes of every address, and the motorway network is reachable in around twenty minutes.
Shops and everyday services
A traditional high street with a weekly market, two supermarkets, a pharmacy, a post office and a good number of independent shops and cafés. Guests staying longer tend to use the market for fresh produce and the larger supermarket, a five-minute drive away, for everything else.
Eating and drinking
Within walking distance you will find a handful of cafés, two pubs serving food and a small restaurant. The town centre has a wider choice, including takeaway options that deliver to our addresses until late evening.
Parks and open space
A riverside path and a public park are within easy walking distance, both with play areas and benches. The park run and the Saturday market are the two things guests mention most often in their feedback.
Days out and countryside
Footpaths leave the edge of town and join a network of country walks, with a handful of villages and two country pubs within a comfortable half-day walk. Larger attractions, including a cathedral city and a heritage railway, are within an hour by car.
A city within reach
A cathedral city with museums, theatres and a full shopping district is under an hour away by train, which makes the area workable for guests splitting their time between a stay here and meetings in town.
